Samsung Galaxy A51 used and refurbished
The front of the Galaxy A51 is almost all screen – 6.5 inches with a small, round camera hole in the middle of the top edge. On the back, a rectangular island holds four lenses, including a macro for close-ups. It's a phone for photos, video calls and watching things, and despite all that it's just under 8 mm thick.

What can the Galaxy A51 do?
The Super AMOLED Full HD+ display is sharp with strong contrast, and it works well for series, photos and e-books. The refresh rate is 60 Hz, so scrolling isn't as smooth as on newer Samsungs with 90 or 120 Hz. Sound comes from a single speaker on the bottom edge.
The back and frame are plastic, and the front is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The model has no IP rating, so rain and moisture are a risk for it. The optical fingerprint reader sits under the screen. NFC lets you pay with your phone at the till.
Processor, cameras and battery
The phone runs on an Exynos 9611, and in the units on SWOPiFY it's paired with 4 GB of RAM. For everyday tasks like social media, email, Google Maps or YouTube that's enough, although jumping quickly between apps brings the odd moment of hesitation. Games will run, but mostly on medium settings. The main camera is 48 MP, alongside a 12 MP ultra-wide, a 5 MP macro and a 5 MP depth sensor, and you can record video in up to 4K. The 32 MP front camera takes care of selfies.
The 4000 mAh battery gives you a day of typical use. Wired charging is 15 W, with no wireless option.
What should you look out for before buying?
There's a 3.5 mm jack, so your favourite wired headphones are still in the game. The microSD card goes into its own slot and doesn't clash with two SIM cards. The main camera has no optical stabilisation – at night you need to hold the phone steady, and videos are smoothed only by electronic stabilisation.
In early 2024 Samsung ended software support for the Galaxy A51. The phone got three major updates, all the way to Android 13, but there won't be any new security patches. Over time this may limit access to some apps, including banking ones, and it increases the risk from system vulnerabilities. As a backup phone, a smartphone for a child or an older person, or a device for basic tasks, it still holds up. The Galaxy A51 5G has a faster Exynos 980 and a 4500 mAh battery.
