Samsung Galaxy A55 used and refurbished
The Galaxy A55 is a phone that doesn't make you feel you've cut corners in daily use. It has a large 6.6-inch AMOLED screen with a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate, a metal frame, glass on the front and back, and a battery that comfortably lasts all day. Add an IP67 rating, and rain or the odd splash is no problem for it.
At SWOPiFY you'll find used and refurbished Samsung Galaxy A55 phones with 128 GB or 256 GB of storage, in blue, navy, yellow and pink. SWOPiFY partners check every unit technically before sale, and if anything needs repairing, it goes to a repair centre first.
What can the Galaxy A55 do?
The screen is its strongest point. It's bright, has vivid colours and works well for films, photos and scrolling through social media, even in sunlight. Sound comes from two speakers, so a series or a video call sounds fuller than on cheaper models with a single speaker. The fingerprint reader is hidden under the screen.
The body can survive being submerged up to a metre deep for half an hour and is dust-tight. Samsung also equipped it with Knox Vault – a separate, protected chip where the phone stores PINs, passwords and biometric data. The phone supports NFC, so you can pay contactlessly with it, as well as eSIM.
Processor, cameras and battery
Inside is an Exynos 1480 with 8 GB of RAM. Messaging apps, the browser, maps and navigation run smoothly, and most popular games will run without trouble too, though not at the highest settings. On the back there are three cameras: a 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilisation, a 12 MP ultra-wide and a 5 MP macro camera. A 32 MP camera takes care of selfies.
The battery is 5000 mAh. With typical use, that's a full day with some to spare. Wired charging runs at 25 W, but this model doesn't have wireless charging.
What should you look out for before buying?
The Galaxy A55 has no 3.5 mm headphone jack, so for wired headphones you'll need a USB-C adapter. You can add a microSD card, but it takes the place of the second SIM – if you use two numbers, go for more built-in storage from the start or set one number up as an eSIM.
Updates are good for this class: Samsung promised the Galaxy A55 four major Android updates and five years of security patches from its launch in March 2024. If you're considering the newer Galaxy A56, bear in mind it has longer support and faster 45 W charging.
You can filter Galaxy A55 phones by:
- storage – 128 GB or 256 GB;
- RAM – 8 GB;
- colour;
- price range;
- condition.
If you take lots of photos and record videos and don't want to give up the second SIM, choose the 256 GB version. With 128 GB, the system and apps take up a fair share of the space.
What does the technical check involve?
Before a Galaxy A55 goes on sale as refurbished, it goes through a 44-point checklist, including:
- screen – touch, brightness, dead pixels and the condition of the glass;
- battery – health and physical condition;
- all cameras, front and rear;
- the under-display fingerprint reader;
- connectivity – Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC;
- SIM card detection and eSIM support;
- speakers, microphones and USB-C port.
Can you trust a refurbished Galaxy A55?
A refurbished Samsung Galaxy A55 from SWOPiFY is a used phone, checked by SWOPiFY partners and repaired where needed. We don't sell it as new and never suggest that it is.
Your purchase comes with a warranty. The appearance and battery condition of each unit are described by one of four grades: Premium, Excellent, Good or Fair. That way, before you order, you know whether you're after a phone with no signs of use or whether a cheaper unit with minor scratches will do.
