MyPhone Hammer Smartphones used and refurbished

Hammer is one of the few phone brands backed by a Polish company – mPTech, the same firm that sells devices under the myPhone name. For years, rugged Hammers have gone where an ordinary smartphone wouldn't last long: building sites, workshops, allotments or out on the water. People buy them for work rather than to show off. And that's exactly why a used one makes a lot of sense.

In this category you'll find used and refurbished myPhone Hammer phones – mainly models from the Energy and Iron series, alongside the classic keypad phone Hammer 6 LTE. Before any of them goes back on sale, SWOPiFY partners give it a technical check and, if needed, a repair as well.

Which Hammer phones will you find in this category?

The Energy series is for people who don't want to go looking for a charger every day. The Hammer Energy 18x9 and Hammer Energy 2 have 5000 mAh batteries, 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage and IP68-rated bodies, meaning they're protected against dust and immersion in water. The Energy 18x9 has a slightly larger 5.7-inch screen, while the Energy 2 is the newer model, running Android 9.

The Iron series, meaning the Hammer Iron 2 and Iron 3, covers simpler and cheaper smartphones from the same family. The 16 GB Iron 3 has 1 GB of RAM and Android 9 Go, so it'll handle calls, messages and navigation, but not lots of apps at once. The Hammer 6 LTE, on the other hand, is a phone with physical keys: IP68, an SOS button, a torch and a battery that, according to the manufacturer, lasts up to a week.

Why consider a refurbished Hammer?

A refurbished Hammer costs less than the same model bought new, and for a phone that has to survive drops and mud, that's a particularly sensible choice. You don't overpay for a device that's going to work in tough conditions anyway. Many people buy one as a second, work phone – alongside their everyday smartphone.

The rugged body has another advantage too: a phone like this usually outlasts its first owner. If it still works, it would be a shame for it to end up in a drawer or as e-waste. A second life for a device that already exists is a small but real difference – though of course it doesn't turn buying a phone into an eco-friendly act.

What should you check before buying?

With older Hammers, check whether the model supports LTE. In many European countries operators have already switched off 3G and some are planning to phase out 2G, so a phone without 4G/LTE may be left with 2G only – calls and texts still work, but mobile data becomes very slow. Check what your operator supports. The 16 GB Hammer Iron 3 doesn't have LTE, unlike the Iron 3 LTE. The Hammer Energy 18x9 and Hammer 6 LTE support 4G.

In this category you can filter Hammer phones by:

  • storage – 16 GB or 32 GB;
  • RAM – from 1 GB to 3 GB;
  • colour, including black and orange;
  • price range;
  • condition.

If the phone is going to work with you on a building site or on the road, choose a model from the Energy series – the 5000 mAh battery makes the biggest difference here. If you only need to make calls and want to be sure the phone will hold up, consider the Hammer 6 LTE with its keypad.

What does the technical check involve?

Every phone in this category goes through a 44-point checklist before it goes on sale. For Hammer smartphones, the checks include, among other things:

  • the touchscreen – touch response and the condition of the glass;
  • the battery – health and any damage;
  • the front and rear cameras;
  • the fingerprint reader and face recognition, if the model has them;
  • connectivity – Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and mobile network;
  • SIM card detection;
  • microphone and speakers;
  • ports and port covers.

For the classic Hammer 6 LTE, the list also covers the keypad, torch and SOS button. The checks are carried out by SWOPiFY partners, chosen through a multi-stage selection process. They're the ones who decide whether a handset needs repairing before it's listed again.

Can you trust refurbished Hammer phones?

The refurbished Hammer phones in this category are used devices – we don't sell them as new, and we never suggest they are. The condition of each unit is described by one of four grades: Premium, Very good, Good or Fair. Work phones are more likely to show signs of use on the body, so the condition grade tells you what to expect.

Every purchase comes with a warranty. If something's wrong, you have formal grounds for a claim, not just a seller's word in a classified ad.
