The Galaxy A04s is a budget smartphone that feels smooth from the very first swipe – the 6.5-inch display refreshes at 90 Hz. You unlock it with the fingerprint reader in the power button, pay contactless thanks to NFC, and the 5000 mAh battery charges at 15 W. It's a sensible choice for messaging apps, maps, photos and social media.
At SWOPiFY you'll find used and refurbished Samsung Galaxy A04s phones in 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB versions, in black, white, green and orange. SWOPiFY partners give every phone a technical check before sale, and if something isn't right, the unit goes for repair first.
What can the Galaxy A04s do?
The PLS LCD screen has HD+ resolution (720 x 1600), but the 90 Hz refresh rate makes scrolling through Instagram or websites look smoother than on a regular 60 Hz screen. Brightness reaches 400 nits, which means the picture can be hard to read in full sun. The phone has a single speaker that isn't among the loudest – in noisy places headphones work better.
The front is covered with glass, the back and frame are plastic, and there's no water-resistance rating. The fingerprint reader sits in the side power button. The version sold in Poland supports NFC, so the phone works for contactless payments. It also has a slot for two nano-SIM cards and a separate one for a microSD card.
Processor, cameras and battery
Inside is a Samsung Exynos 850 built on an 8 nm process, backed by 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM. It's still a basic chip, but it copes better than the MediaTek Helio P35 in the cheapest Samsungs. Messaging apps, navigation, YouTube and simple games run without major hold-ups, though with lots of apps open the phone starts to stop and think. On the back there are three cameras: a 50 MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and fast PDAF autofocus, a 2 MP macro and a 2 MP depth sensor. Selfies are taken with a 5 MP camera.
The 5000 mAh battery lasts all day with typical use. Wired charging runs at 15 W, and this model doesn't support wireless charging.
What should you check before buying?
Smooth 90 Hz doesn't change the fact that the screen resolution is HD+ – small text is less sharp than on phones with a Full HD screen. The built-in storage is eMMC 5.1, so in the 32 GB version you'll run out of space quickly. On the plus side: a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a USB-C port and a separate microSD slot.
The Galaxy A04s received two major updates, the last one to Android 14 with One UI 6.1. Its final security patch (the August 2026 level) arrived at the end of August 2026, and at the beginning of October Samsung removed the model from the list of devices receiving updates. As of 20 October 2026, there will be no further patches. Over time this may limit banking apps and payments, and new vulnerabilities will stay open. The A04s still works well as a backup phone, a child's first smartphone, a simple phone for an older relative or for navigation in the car. The Galaxy A04 and A04e still get quarterly patches, but they have a 60 Hz screen, a weaker processor and no fingerprint reader.
You can filter Galaxy A04s units by:
- storage – 32 GB, 64 GB or 128 GB;
- RAM – 3 GB or 4 GB;
- colour;
- price range;
- condition.
Choose at least 64 GB, or 128 GB if you take lots of photos. With the 32 GB version, plan for a microSD card for photos and videos from the start, because the system and apps alone will take up most of the space.
How does the technical check work?
Before a Galaxy A04s goes on sale as refurbished, it goes through a 44-point checklist, including:
- screen – touch, 90 Hz smoothness, dead pixels and the condition of the glass;
- battery – health and physical condition of the cell;
- three rear cameras and the front camera;
- fingerprint reader in the power button;
- connectivity – Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC;
- SIM and microSD card detection;
- speaker, microphone, 3.5 mm jack and USB-C port.
Can you trust a refurbished Galaxy A04s?
A refurbished Samsung Galaxy A04s from SWOPiFY is a used phone, tested by SWOPiFY partners and repaired if faults were found. We don't call it new and never present it that way.
When you buy it, you get a warranty. The condition of every unit – body, screen, battery – falls into one of four grades: Premium, Excellent, Good or Fair. If the phone is going into a case and will serve as a backup, the Good or Fair grade will help you save.
