The Galaxy A32 5G is a smartphone from January 2021 that connects to 5G networks. It has a large 6.5-inch screen, four cameras on the back, a 5000 mAh battery and a MediaTek Dimensity 720 processor. The screen is an HD+ LCD panel (720 × 1600 pixels) with a 60 Hz refresh rate. For films, social media and maps it's perfectly adequate, although blacks aren't as deep as on AMOLED and small text looks less sharp up close. The front is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. There's a single speaker on the bottom edge.

The body is plastic, and the phone weighs 205 grams – you can feel in your hand that it's a sizeable device. The European version has NFC for contactless payments. The phone has no IP water-resistance rating, so it's worth keeping it away from puddles and water.

Processor, cameras and battery

The Dimensity 720 with 4 GB of RAM supports 5G and copes with everyday apps: messaging, the browser, navigation, music and video streaming. For gaming it's fine with lighter titles, and with lots of apps open at once it can slow down. On the back there's a 48 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultra-wide, a 5 MP macro and a depth sensor. You can record 4K video at 30 frames per second. On the front there's a 13 MP camera.

With typical use, the 5000 mAh battery lasts all day, often with some to spare. The phone charges by cable at 15 W and doesn't support wireless charging.

What should you check before buying?

There's a 3.5 mm headphone jack, so you can plug in wired headphones without an adapter. The microSD card, however, takes the place of the second SIM – if you use two numbers, choose the 128 GB version. The screen is HD+ with a 60 Hz refresh rate, and 15 W charging for a 5000 mAh battery calls for patience.

The Galaxy A32 5G started on Android 11 and ended on Android 13 with One UI 5. The European version received its last security patches in early 2025, and today it's no longer on Samsung's list of supported devices. The phone works, but it doesn't get patches for new threats, which matters for mobile banking. Some apps may eventually stop working on its system. It's a sensible choice as a spare phone, for a child, for an older relative or for basic tasks with access to fast 5G internet. The 4G Galaxy A32 has a better 90 Hz AMOLED screen and a 64 MP camera, but doesn't support 5G networks.
