Xiaomi Mi Series used and refurbished

The Mi series is Xiaomi's oldest smartphone line – it started in 2011 with the Mi 1. For a decade the company used it to show off its most powerful phones, and the Mi 11 was the first smartphone on the market to get the Snapdragon 888. In August 2021 Xiaomi announced it was dropping the "Mi" prefix outside China, so the Mi 11 family closes the story.

At SWOPiFY you'll find used and refurbished Xiaomi Mi phones – from the Mi A2 and Mi Play of 2018, through the Mi 9, Mi Note 10 and the whole Mi 10 family, to the Mi 11, Mi 11i and Mi 11 Ultra. SWOPiFY partners check every unit point by point and replace worn parts when needed.

Which Xiaomi Mi models can you find at SWOPiFY?

The 2019 line-up means the Mi 9 with the Snapdragon 855, the smaller Mi 9 SE, the Mi 9 Lite, and the Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro with a pop-up selfie camera, so the screen has no notch. The Mi Note 10 and Mi Note 10 Pro have five rear cameras with a 108 MP main sensor and a 5260 mAh battery. The Mi A2 and Mi A3 are a separate story – they run stock Android from the Android One programme, without the MIUI skin.

The Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro from 2020 are flagships with the Snapdragon 865 and a 108 MP camera. The Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro have an LCD screen that refreshes 144 times per second, while the Mi 10 Lite and Mi 10T Lite are cheaper 5G versions. The newest generation is the Mi 11, the Mi 11i with the same processor, and the Mi 11 Ultra with a small extra screen next to the cameras and IP68 protection – the choice for someone who takes a lot of photos. The Mi 11 Lite and Mi 11 Lite 5G both weigh under 160 g, but only the latter has a 5G modem and the faster Snapdragon 780G chip.

Why consider a refurbished Xiaomi Mi?

A refurbished Xiaomi Mi costs you noticeably less than the same model did on launch day, and most of them can't be bought new any more. The second-hand market is practically the only source of a Mi 10 Pro or Mi 11 Ultra. So instead of a new phone from the bottom shelf, you can get a former flagship with a Snapdragon 855, 865 or 888.

A working phone doesn't have to end up in a drawer just because its previous owner moved on to a newer model. Buying it won't save the planet, but it extends the life of a device that has already been made once. With models from 2019–2021 that makes particular sense, since many of them still have good screens and capable hardware.

What should you check before buying?

Updates, first and foremost. According to the Xiaomi Trust Center list, no phone in the Mi series receives security patches any more. The Mi 9 and Mi A3 lost support in 2022, the Mi 10 and Mi 10T in 2023, and the longest-supported Mi 11 Ultra dropped off the list on 1 March 2025. The oldest models stopped at Android 9, 10 or 11, so some new apps may eventually stop working on them. Check NFC as well: the Mi A3 and Mi Play don't have it, so you can't use them for contactless payments. The Mi 11 Lite without the 5G tag is easy to confuse with the 5G version – compare the full model name.

You can filter Xiaomi Mi smartphones by:

  • storage – from 64 GB to 256 GB;
  • RAM – from 4 GB in the Mi A3 to 12 GB in the Mi 11 Ultra;
  • colour – from black and white to green, purple and yellow;
  • price range;
  • condition.

If it's going to be your main phone, aim for the Mi 11 family – it has the most powerful processors in the series and received patches the longest. The Mi 9, Mi A3 or Mi Play work better as a satnav phone in the car or a spare for trips.

What does the technical check involve?

Before a Mi series smartphone goes on sale as refurbished, it goes through a 44-point checklist, including:

  • battery – capacity compared with factory spec, because in phones a few years old it wears out fastest;
  • display – touch response, even backlighting and any AMOLED burn-in;
  • cameras, including the pop-up mechanism on the Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro;
  • fingerprint reader and face unlock;
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC on models that have them;
  • SIM card detection and 5G connectivity on newer versions;
  • speakers, microphones and charging port.

Can you trust refurbished Xiaomi Mi smartphones?

Refurbished Xiaomi Mi smartphones at SWOPiFY are used phones – after years with previous owners, an inspection by SWOPiFY partners and any repairs needed. We don't call them new or hint that they are.

The look of the casing and the health of the battery of a given phone are shown by its grade: Premium, Excellent, Good or Fair. With phones that are a few years old, that's an important clue. Your purchase comes with a warranty, so if something goes wrong, you know where to report it.

Got an old smartphone you no longer use?

The trade-in programme will value it, and you take that amount off the price of your next phone. No need to post ads or explain to strangers why the battery doesn't last as long as it used to.
