Samsung Galaxy A03 used and refurbished

The Galaxy A03 is a simple smartphone with a large 6.5-inch screen and a 5000 mAh battery, built for calls, texts, messaging apps and browsing the web. It has a headphone jack and a dedicated memory card slot. There's no fingerprint reader, so you secure the phone with a PIN, pattern or password.

At SWOPiFY you'll find used and refurbished Samsung Galaxy A03 phones in the 64 GB version, in black. Before a phone is listed, SWOPiFY partners check it technically, and if anything needs repairing, it goes to a repair centre first.

What can the Galaxy A03 do?

The PLS LCD screen has HD+ resolution (720 x 1600) and a 60 Hz refresh rate. Text in messaging apps and on websites is easy to read, and the large size makes watching videos easier, although the picture lacks the contrast of pricier AMOLED screens. Sound comes from a single speaker. It's fine for speakerphone calls and short clips, but music is better through headphones.

The front is glass, while the frame and back are plastic. The phone has no water-resistance rating, so keep it away from rain and spills. The European version (SM-A035G/DSN) supports NFC, and Wi-Fi works on both bands, 2.4 and 5 GHz. It takes two nano-SIM cards.

Processor, cameras and battery

Inside is an octa-core Unisoc T606, and the 64 GB version has 4 GB of RAM. That's enough for email, YouTube, maps and messaging apps. With several apps open at once the phone slows down, and only the lightest games will run. On the back there's a 48 MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a 2 MP helper for background blur. In daylight photos come out decent; in the evening they lose detail. You can record video in Full HD, and a 5 MP camera takes care of selfies.

With light use, the 5000 mAh battery easily lasts a whole day. The phone charges via a micro-USB connector, and Samsung included a 7.75 W charger in the box – a full charge takes a long time, so it's easiest to plug it in overnight. There's no wireless charging.

What should you look out for before buying?

Day to day, the micro-USB connector is what you'll notice most. If you only have USB-C cables at home, buy a separate lead. On the plus side, there's a 3.5 mm jack and a dedicated microSD slot for cards up to 1 TB, so the memory card doesn't take the second SIM's place. The built-in storage is the slower eMMC 5.1 type, so installing apps and copying photos takes a moment.

The Galaxy A03's updates ended at Android 13 with One UI Core 5.1. Samsung released its last security patch (the August 2025 level) in September 2025, and the model is no longer on the list of devices receiving updates. New vulnerabilities won't be fixed, and banking and payment apps may limit features or stop working over time. This phone makes sense as a backup, a child's first smartphone, a simple phone for an older person or a device for basic tasks. If you want a phone in a similar class that still gets patches, take a look at the Galaxy A04.

You can filter Galaxy A03 phones by:

  • storage – 64 GB;
  • RAM – 4 GB;
  • colour;
  • price range;
  • condition.

Of the 64 GB, around 47 GB is left for your files once the system is accounted for. Save photos and videos straight to the microSD card and leave the phone's storage for apps – when the eMMC storage is clogged up, the Galaxy A03 slows down noticeably.

What does the technical check involve?

Before a Galaxy A03 goes on sale as refurbished, it goes through a 44-point checklist, including:

  • screen – touch response, brightness, dead pixels and the condition of the glass;
  • battery – cell health and physical condition;
  • the front camera and both rear cameras;
  • connectivity – Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC;
  • detection of both SIM cards and the microSD card;
  • 3.5 mm headphone jack and micro-USB port;
  • speaker, microphone and side buttons.

Can you trust a refurbished Galaxy A03?

A refurbished Samsung Galaxy A03 from SWOPiFY is a used phone that has been checked by SWOPiFY partners and, if there was a fault, repaired. We don't present it as new and never suggest that it is.

Every purchase includes a warranty. The look of the casing, the screen and the battery condition are described by one of four grades: Premium, Excellent, Good or Fair. If you're buying a backup phone or one for a child, a unit with minor scratches on the plastic back is often all you need.
