The Galaxy M53 5G is a big phone that is also surprisingly slim: with a 6.7-inch screen it measures just 7.4 mm thick and weighs 176 g. The Super AMOLED Plus display refreshes at 120 Hz, there's a 108 MP camera on the back, and the 5000 mAh battery lasts a full day of browsing, navigation and taking photos. Samsung launched it in April 2022.

At SWOPiFY you'll find used and refurbished Samsung Galaxy M53 5G phones in the 128 GB version, in brown, blue and green. Before one reaches you, SWOPiFY partners run technical checks on it, and any faults they find are fixed by a repair service before the phone goes back on sale.

What can the Galaxy M53 5G do?

The sharp Full HD+ picture sits under Gorilla Glass 5. All that screen space comes in handy for maps, reading and films, and 120 Hz makes scrolling look smooth. Sound comes from a single speaker, so in a noisy place you're better off with headphones. Samsung put the fingerprint reader in the power button on the right-hand side.

The matte, slightly iridescent plastic back and plastic frame keep the phone light for its size. Samsung doesn't state any water or dust resistance rating for this model, so it's best to wait out a downpour with the phone in your pocket. The European version has NFC, so you can use it for contactless payments in shops or on the bus.

Processor, cameras and battery

The phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 900, a 6 nm chip backed by 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM. It's built for everyday tasks: messaging apps, email, YouTube and navigation run without stutters, while demanding games need the graphics settings turned down. The 108 MP main camera takes detailed shots in good light that are easy to crop later. It's joined by an 8 MP ultra-wide lens, a 2 MP macro and a 2 MP depth sensor, and there's a 32 MP camera on the front.

With moderate use, the 5000 mAh battery easily gets you to the evening. Wired charging goes up to 25 W, though Samsung didn't include a charger in the box. There's no wireless charging.

What should you check before buying?

The Galaxy M53 5G has no 3.5 mm headphone jack – you'll need a USB-C adapter for wired headphones. The card tray is hybrid: it holds either two SIMs or one SIM and a microSD card. The built-in storage is UFS 2.1, slower than in newer phones, which you'll notice when installing large games.

The most important thing is updates. The Galaxy M53 5G received four major OS updates – the last one, Android 16 with One UI 8, in October 2025. In June 2026 Samsung removed it from the list of devices getting security patches, and the last patch dates from May 2026. New vulnerabilities will no longer be fixed, and over time some apps, including banking apps, may stop supporting it. That makes it best suited as a backup phone, a child's first smartphone, a simple phone for an older relative or a device for basic tasks. If ongoing support matters to you, go for the Galaxy M54 5G, which still gets patches and has a 6000 mAh battery.

You can filter Galaxy M53 5G listings by:

  • storage – 128 GB;
  • RAM – 6 GB;
  • colour – brown, blue or green;
  • price range;
  • condition.

If you use one SIM, it's easy to add a microSD card – especially if you often switch on 108 MP mode, because those photos take up many times more space than regular ones.

What does the technical check involve?

Before a Galaxy M53 5G goes on sale as refurbished, it goes through a 44-point checklist, including:

  • screen – touch response, brightness, dead pixels and scratches on the glass;
  • battery – cell health and any swelling;
  • the 108 MP camera, the other rear modules and the selfie camera;
  • the fingerprint reader in the power button;
  • connectivity – 5G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC;
  • hybrid tray – SIM and microSD card detection;
  • speaker, microphones and USB-C port.

Can you trust a refurbished Galaxy M53 5G?

A refurbished Samsung Galaxy M53 5G from SWOPiFY is a used phone that has been checked by SWOPiFY partners and, if it had a fault, repaired. We don't present it as new – and we don't suggest that anywhere.

It comes with a warranty. Every unit is assigned one of four condition grades: Premium, Excellent, Good or Fair, describing the look of the casing and the health of the battery. For a backup phone, a cheaper unit in "Good" condition is often enough.
