What can the Galaxy A41 do?

The Super AMOLED display has Full HD+ resolution, so on a screen this small the picture comes out very sharp. Colours are rich, and in dark mode the screen saves battery. The refresh rate is the classic 60 Hz. There's one speaker, on the bottom edge – when watching videos in landscape it's easy to cover it with your hand.

The back and frame are plastic, and the front is covered by Gorilla Glass 3. The European version has no water-resistance certification, so it's best to limit contact with water to a few drops of rain. Processor, cameras and battery

The phone is run by a MediaTek Helio P65 with 4 GB of RAM. Messaging apps, email, browsing and navigation work without much trouble, but demanding games and quickly switching between lots of apps will show that it's a mid-range chip from a few years back. The main camera is 48 MP, with an 8 MP ultra-wide and a depth sensor for shots with a blurred background beside it. You take selfies with the 25 MP camera.

The battery is 3500 mAh. With light use it'll make it to the evening; with heavy use, probably not. Wired charging runs at 15 W, and the Galaxy A41 doesn't support wireless charging.

What should you look out for before buying?

On the plus side: there's a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a separate microSD tray, independent of the two SIM cards. On the minus side: 64 GB of slower eMMC storage isn't much, and the 3500 mAh battery doesn't leave a big margin. If you drive a lot with navigation on, a power bank will come in handy.

Samsung has ended support for the Galaxy A41 – the phone received its last security patch in June 2024, and the system stopped at Android 12. Without new fixes, the risk of security vulnerabilities grows, and some banking apps may stop supporting it over time. So it makes sense as a backup phone, for a child, for an older person or for basic tasks such as calls, texts and messaging apps.
