Frequently asked questions
Is it worth buying a MacBook Pro (2013) 13″ with an Intel processor?
A MacBook Pro 2013 13″ with an Intel processor is a very old machine by today’s standards, so it makes more sense as a cheap laptop for basic tasks than as your main workhorse for many years. It can still handle web browsing, email, office documents, music and videos, but newer and heavier apps or creative software will feel noticeably slower compared with more recent Macs. This generation no longer supports current versions of macOS, which means limited security updates and new features, something you really should keep in mind for long term use. On our platform it comes as a refurbished device prepared by partners, so it is checked, cleaned and more affordable, but we do not guarantee that it will look like new, that every part will be original or that any former water resistance is still intact. If you just want an inexpensive second laptop for very simple tasks or a temporary machine, a MacBook Pro 2013 can still be fine, but for intensive everyday work and long software support a newer model will be a much better choice.
What is the difference between Apple Silicon and Intel processors?
The main difference between Apple Silicon and Intel processors is how the chips are built and how efficiently they use power. Apple Silicon from the M family is based on ARM architecture and is designed as a custom system on a chip that brings together fast CPU cores, graphics and unified memory in one tightly integrated package. This allows MacBooks with Apple Silicon to deliver strong performance while staying cool, running quietly and offering much longer battery life than most Intel based models. Intel processors in older Macs use the long standing x86 architecture, which is very compatible with traditional desktop software and for many years was the obvious choice if you wanted to run Windows on a Mac, but these chips usually draw more power, generate more heat and make the fans spin up more often, so the battery drains faster. In everyday use Apple Silicon is a better fit if you care about speed, silence, long battery life and several more years of macOS updates, while an Intel Mac still makes sense if you rely on specific older apps and are looking at a cheaper refurbished machine for simple daily tasks.
Does the MacBook Pro (2013) 13″ have an M1 or Intel processor?
The MacBook Pro 2013 13″ uses Intel processors only, not an M1 chip. At that time Apple still built all of its MacBook models around Intel CPUs and the first Macs with Apple Silicon M1 arrived several years later. So if you are looking at a MacBook Pro 13″ from 2013 in the Intel version, it is an Intel based machine that on our platform is sold as a refurbished device, not a Mac with an M series processor.
What does it mean that a MacBook is refurbished?
When a MacBook is described as refurbished, it means it has already been used by someone else and then sent to our partner specialists, who clean it thoroughly, run detailed tests and replace selected parts if needed so that it is ready again for comfortable everyday use. The device can show small signs of previous use and we do not promise that it will look brand new or that every single component will be an original Apple part, and because it has gone through a refurbishment process we also cannot guarantee that any original water resistance is still intact. In return you get a fully working MacBook at a lower price, you choose a more sustainable option that reduces electronic waste and on our platform you can also use the swap option to trade in your old device and pick a refurbished one.
