The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 3, and the back and frame are plastic with a glossy finish. The body has no IP certification, so it's best kept away from water and sand. The Galaxy A50 has a 3.5 mm headphone jack, so you can connect wired headphones without an adapter. The microSD card has its own tray and doesn't take the second SIM's place. The limitation is the age of the design: you can only record video in Full HD at most, and the cameras lack optical stabilisation.

Software support for the Galaxy A50 has already ended. The last major system was Android 11, and in April 2023 Samsung removed the model from its security update schedule. Without ongoing patches the phone is more exposed to vulnerabilities, and some apps, banking ones included, may stop working over time. It works well as a backup phone, a child's first smartphone, a phone for an older person or for simple tasks. The Galaxy A51 has a 48 MP main camera and made it to Android 13.
