The M series started in India in 2019, with the M10 and M20 sold online only – through Samsung's own store and on Amazon. It replaced the Galaxy On line there and had a simple idea from day one: a big battery for sensible money. The record holder became the Galaxy M51, with a 7000 mAh battery. The M series was never as high-profile as the Galaxy A, so many people don't even know it exists.

In this category you'll find used and refurbished Samsung Galaxy M smartphones – from the oldest M10, M20 and M30s, through the M21, M31, M31s and M51, to newer 5G models such as the M34, M35, M54 and M55. Every phone first lands on the SWOPiFY partners' workbench: it goes through a technical check and, if something isn't right, a repair.

Which Galaxy M models will you find in this category?

The M series sits one step below the Galaxy A and often borrows from it. Some models are, in practice, reworked A series phones: the Galaxy M53 took the 108 MP camera from the pricier A73, and the M54 was described as a souped-up version of the A54. The difference is usually that the M gets a bigger battery and saves on the finish of the casing or on extras.

The number after the letter tells you the class. The M1x – M10, M11, M12, M13, M14 5G and M15 5G – are the simplest phones, for calls, messaging and browsing. The M2x and M3x, including the M21, M22, M23 5G, M31, M32, M33 5G and M34 5G, are the middle of the pack, with 5000–6000 mAh batteries. At the top are the M51, M52 5G, M53 5G, M54 5G and M55 5G – with better screens and more powerful processors.

Why consider a refurbished Galaxy M?

You'll pay less for a refurbished Galaxy M than for a new unit of the same model, and the series was already cheaper than comparable Galaxy A phones from the start. For the money you'd spend on a new entry-level phone, you can get a model from the upper end of the M series, with a bigger screen and a noticeably larger battery.

A phone with a big battery has another advantage: even after a few years of charging, it still has plenty in reserve. It would be a shame to throw it away just because someone changed their contract. A second owner doesn't solve the e-waste problem, but it's one less phone that has to be made from scratch.

What should you check before buying?

Updates matter most. Older Galaxy M models got shorter support than the flagships: the M12 received its last security patch in February 2025, the M32 dropped off Samsung's list in August 2025, and the M53 5G in June 2026. The oldest M10, M20 and M30s stopped getting them long ago. The newer M15 5G, M34 5G and M55 5G come with a promise of four major Android updates. If you use a banking app, pick one of these. Bear in mind, too, that battery capacity can vary by regional version – the M12, M13 and M33 had 6000 mAh in India, but 5000 mAh in the global versions.

In this category you can filter Galaxy M smartphones by:

  • storage – from 16 GB on the M10 to 256 GB on the M54 5G and M55 5G;
  • RAM – from 2 GB on the M10 to 8 GB on the newer 5G models;
  • colour, including navy, green and orange;
  • price range;
  • condition.

If the phone needs to last you a few years, aim for a 5G model from the latest generations with at least 128 GB of storage. An M10 or M11 with 16–32 GB is better suited as a backup phone or a first smartphone for a child.

What does the technical check involve?

A Galaxy M only goes on sale after a 44-point check. Since this series is all about the battery, its health is assessed especially carefully. The checks include, among other things:

  • the battery – capacity compared with the original and physical condition;
  • the screen – touch, brightness and any discolouration;
  • the cameras – all rear modules and the front one;
  • the fingerprint reader and face recognition;
  • Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC and – on newer models – 5G;
  • SIM card detection;
  • microphone and speaker;
  • the charging port and headphone jack.

The checks are carried out by SWOPiFY partners, chosen through a multi-stage selection process. If a unit needs a part replaced, they do it before the phone goes back on sale.

Can you trust refurbished Galaxy M smartphones?

Refurbished Samsung Galaxy M phones in this category are used phones. We don't pretend they're new, and we never suggest it anywhere. With every unit you can see its grade: Premium, Very good, Good or Fair. Each one has its own criteria for the look of the casing and battery health.

Your purchase comes with a warranty. If something stops working, you report it formally instead of trying to track down an anonymous seller from a classifieds site.
