The first Redmi went on sale in China on 12 July 2013. It was called Hongmi there, meaning "red rice", and it had one job: give you as much smartphone as possible for as little money as possible. In January 2019 Redmi became a separate brand within Xiaomi, but the core line still sticks to the same idea. These are phones for calls, messages, photos and maps, without paying extra for things many people never use anyway.
At SWOPiFY you'll find used and refurbished Xiaomi Redmi phones – the series runs from the Redmi 7, 8A and 9C, through the Redmi 10, 12C and 13C, up to the Redmi 14C, Redmi 15 and the most basic Redmi A3 and A5. Every unit that appears in the listings is first checked by SWOPiFY partners and, if something is faulty, repaired.
Which Xiaomi Redmi models can you find at SWOPiFY?
The Redmi series itself has three tiers. At the bottom sit the models with the letter A – first as a suffix (7A, 8A, 9A), and since 2022 as a separate line: A1, A2, A3 and A5. The Redmi A1 ran stock Android 12 instead of MIUI and came with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. One step up are the C models, such as the 10C, 12C, 13C and 14C: a bigger screen, more memory, still a low price.
At the top of the series are the models with just a number. The Redmi 13 has a 108 MP camera and a 6.79-inch 90 Hz display. The Redmi 15 got a 7000 mAh battery and a 6.9-inch screen with a 144 Hz refresh rate. Some generations come in 5G versions – the Redmi 10 5G, 12 5G or 13C 5G – and these differ from the 4G versions in more than just the modem. A Redmi without the "Note" tag is a good pick for someone who wants a simple, cheap phone rather than a mid-ranger.
Why consider a refurbished Redmi?
A refurbished Redmi costs less than a new unit of the same model, and with budget phones you really notice that difference in your wallet. It makes sense as a child's first smartphone, a phone for a parent or a spare handset for work.
A simple phone doesn't have to be new to handle a messaging app, email and navigation. Giving a working Redmi another life won't solve the e-waste problem, but it does mean nobody has to build the next phone from scratch.
What should you check before buying?
Budget Redmi phones get shorter support than Xiaomi's pricier models. The Redmi 10C and Redmi 10 2022 stopped receiving patches in February 2025, the Redmi 12C, A2 and A2+ in March 2026, and the European Redmi 10 5G landed on Xiaomi's end-of-updates list in July 2026. The Redmi 13C reaches the end of support in November 2026. The Redmi 12 and 12 5G will last longer, as Xiaomi promised them four years of security patches, and the Redmi A5 longest of all, with patches planned until April 2029. Watch the names, too. The Redmi 10, Redmi 10 2022 and Redmi 10 5G are three different phones, and the 13C and 13C 5G use different processors.
You can filter Xiaomi Redmi smartphones by:
- storage – from 16 GB in the Redmi 7 and 7A to 256 GB in the Redmi 13, 14C or Redmi 15;
- RAM – from 2 GB in the Redmi A1 and A2 to 8 GB in the Redmi 12, 13 and 14C;
- colour, including black, blue, green and purple;
- price range;
- condition.
With 32 GB of storage, the system and a few apps quickly eat up most of the space, so for photos and videos look for a version with at least 128 GB. If the phone needs to last more than a year, choose a model that still gets patches.
What does the technical check involve?
Before a Redmi series smartphone goes on sale as refurbished, it goes through a 44-point checklist, including:
- battery – capacity compared with factory spec and physical condition;
- screen – touch, brightness, backlight and the state of the glass;
- rear and front cameras;
- fingerprint reader and face unlock;
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and 5G on models that have it;
- SIM card detection and the microSD card reader;
- speaker, microphone, 3.5 mm headphone jack and charging port.
Can you trust refurbished Xiaomi Redmi smartphones?
Refurbished Xiaomi Redmi smartphones at SWOPiFY are used phones that have been technically checked and, where needed, repaired by SWOPiFY partners. They aren't new, and we never suggest otherwise.
The condition of each unit is described by one of four grades: Premium, Excellent, Good or Fair. The grade tells you about the look of the casing and the health of the battery. Your purchase comes with a warranty, so you report a problem through the official channel, not in a private message to the seller.
