The PLS LCD screen combines Full HD+ sharpness with a 90 Hz refresh rate. Text is crisp, and scrolling through pages and lists is noticeably smoother than on a standard 60 Hz screen. Sound comes from a single speaker.

The body is plastic, with no water-resistance rating. The fingerprint reader is built into the power button on the right-hand side. The phone supports NFC, so contactless payments work just as they do on pricier models.

The European version (SM-A146P) has a MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor, usually paired with 4 GB of RAM. Everyday apps – messaging, the browser, navigation, streaming services – run smoothly, and you don't need to tweak anything for simpler games. With demanding 3D titles, it's better to turn the detail down. There are three cameras on the back: a 50 MP main camera, a 2 MP macro and a 2 MP depth sensor. You won't be taking ultra-wide shots with this phone. On the front there's a 13 MP camera that produces clear selfies in good light.

The battery is 5000 mAh and, with typical use, lasts a day with some to spare. Wired charging supports up to 15 W, and the Galaxy A14 5G doesn't offer wireless charging.

What should you check before buying?

The Galaxy A14 5G has kept its 3.5 mm headphone jack and a dedicated microSD slot that's separate from the two SIM cards. Its weaker points are 15 W charging, which is slow by today's standards, and the lack of an ultra-wide camera. If you take a lot of landscape photos or shoot in tight spaces, keep that in mind.

The last major system update was Android 15 with One UI 7, which reached this model in mid-2025. Security patches still arrive every quarter, but Samsung promised them for four years from the January 2023 launch, so they end in early 2027. Until then, the phone will handle banking and payments without any worries; after that, it's better used for a second number, for a child or for an older relative's basic needs. The Galaxy A15 5G already offers an AMOLED screen, 25 W charging and longer support.
