What can the Galaxy A15 do?

The display is this model's biggest strength. It has Full HD+ resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate, so scrolling is smooth and videos and photos look lively. The AMOLED panel also works well in dark mode. Sound comes from a single speaker – enough for calls and short clips, but you'll want headphones for a series.

The back and frame are plastic, and the body has no water-resistance rating. The fingerprint reader is built into the power button on the side, and unlocking takes a fraction of a second. The European version supports NFC, so the phone can replace your bank card at the till.

Processor, cameras and battery

Inside is the MediaTek Helio G99 – a chip built on a 6 nm process with two fast Cortex-A76 cores – plus 4 to 8 GB of RAM, depending on the version. Messaging apps, social media, maps and video services run smoothly, and popular games play on medium settings. On the back there are three cameras: a 50 MP main camera, a 5 MP ultra-wide and a 2 MP macro. The 13 MP front camera handles selfies and video calls.

The 5000 mAh battery comfortably lasts all day, and longer if you go easy on it. Wired charging runs at up to 25 W, so a few dozen minutes at the socket give the battery a clear boost. There's no wireless charging.

What should you check before buying?

The Galaxy A15 has a 3.5 mm headphone jack, which is becoming rarer in this class. The microSD card, however, takes the place of the second SIM – if you use two numbers, go for the 256 GB version from the start. Bear in mind too that this model has no 5G. If your operator offers fast 5G internet and you want to use it, this phone won't support it.

Software support is a strong point of the Galaxy A15. Samsung promised it four major Android updates, counting from Android 14, and five years of security patches from its launch in December 2023, which means until the end of 2028. In Europe the phone already runs Android 16, and security patches arrive every quarter. Its twin, the Galaxy A15 5G, is built almost identically but adds 5G support.
