Samsung Galaxy A70 used and refurbished

The Galaxy A70 is a big phone for watching and scrolling. The 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen has Full HD+ resolution, with just a small teardrop notch at the top for the selfie camera. The 4500 mAh battery gets you through the day with navigation and music in the background. When it runs low, 25 W charging quickly gets it back on its feet.

At SWOPiFY you'll find used and refurbished Samsung Galaxy A70 phones in the 128 GB version, single SIM or dual SIM, in blue, coral, black and white. Before a phone is listed, SWOPiFY partners give it a technical check, and any faults found are fixed by the repair shop.

What can the Galaxy A70 do?

The 20:9 screen is tall and fairly narrow, so despite its large diagonal you can still get your hand around the phone. AMOLED gives deep blacks and rich colours, which you see especially in films and with the dark theme. The refresh rate is the standard 60 Hz. Sound comes from a single speaker on the bottom edge – fine for a podcast, but for a film you're better off plugging in headphones.

The front is protected by Gorilla Glass 3, and the back and frame are plastic. The body has no water-resistance rating at all, so it's best kept away from water. The optical fingerprint reader is hidden under the screen. The European version has NFC, so you can pay contactless with your phone.

Processor, cameras and battery

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 675 with 6 GB of RAM (in some markets Samsung also sold an 8 GB variant). Today that's a mid-range chip from a few years ago. Messaging apps, email, the browser and maps run smoothly, but new 3D games need low settings, and with lots of apps open you'll sometimes have to wait a moment. On the back there are three cameras: a 32 MP main camera with a bright f/1.7 lens, an 8 MP ultra-wide and a 5 MP depth sensor for blurring the background. The front camera is 32 MP as well.

The 4500 mAh battery is one of the strongest arguments for this model. With moderate use it lasts all day, although in a used unit a lot depends on the condition of the cell. Wired charging over USB-C runs at 25 W, and there's no wireless charging.

What should you check before buying?

The Galaxy A70 has a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a separate microSD slot, so you don't have to choose between a second number and more storage. The built-in storage uses the UFS 2.0 standard rather than slower eMMC. The real limitations are the lack of water resistance and the plastic body, which picks up marks from everyday carrying over time.

Updates are its weakest point. The last major system version was Android 11 with One UI 3.1, and Samsung no longer releases security patches for the Galaxy A70. New vulnerabilities aren't fixed, and some banking and payment apps gradually stop working on such an old system. That's why the A70 makes sense as a backup phone, a child's first smartphone or a simple phone for an older relative for calls, photos and messaging. The following year's Galaxy A71 has a faster Snapdragon 730 and a 64 MP camera, but it doesn't get patches any more either.

You can filter Galaxy A70 units by:

  • storage – 128 GB;
  • RAM – usually 6 GB;
  • colour – blue, coral, black or white;
  • price range;
  • condition.

All units have 128 GB, so extra space comes down to a microSD card. If you use two numbers, choose the dual SIM version – the memory card has its own place in the tray anyway.

How does the technical check work?

Before a Galaxy A70 goes on sale as refurbished, it goes through a 44-point checklist, including:

  • screen – touch sensitivity, brightness, dead pixels and scratches on the glass;
  • battery – health and physical condition of the cell;
  • three rear cameras and the selfie camera;
  • optical in-display fingerprint reader;
  • connectivity – Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and NFC;
  • SIM and microSD card detection;
  • speaker, microphone, headphone jack and USB-C port.

Can you trust a refurbished Galaxy A70?

A refurbished Samsung Galaxy A70 from SWOPiFY is a used phone that SWOPiFY partners have checked and, if necessary, repaired. We don't pass it off as new and never suggest that it is.

Your purchase comes with a warranty. The condition of the body and battery of every unit is described by one of four grades: Premium, Excellent, Good or Fair. If the A70 is going to be a backup phone, a Fair unit with a few scratches is often perfectly enough.
